The present perfect – most hated tense in the world 😊 Something that started in the past and has an effect on the “now”.
I am not hungry – I have just eaten.
The football went through the window – the kids have broken the window.
The car is in the river – I’ve driven the car into the river.
I was three minutes late – I have just missed the bus.
I have just received your letter. (American English: I just received your letter)
I’ve broken my arm. It is in a cast.
I have never eaten sushi. I have never been to the USA. I have been to Italy 3 times.
Nota bene: the present perfect is not used consistently in the USA. People might say „I work here for three years“, which would be terribly wrong in the UK.
